In the beginning ...

The name of this blog is a clue to its purpose. Hopefully this is a good thing, after all, one doesn't want to be confused when it comes to trivial things, let alone something one might take time to read.
"Thus says the Lord, Heaven is my throne and earth is my footstool."
The title of this first post is also a clue. Of course it is simply the beginning of the blog, but it also points to the purpose of this blog. That is, to discuss the intersection of Christian faith and the whole of creation.

The amazing statement of Isaiah is one which at once proclaims the majesty and glory of God, and simultaneously elevates creation to the very throne room of God. Too often the earth and its fullness has been denigrated, to be an accident, to be an imperfect center from which one desires to escape, to be simply good enough for now. It is time to remind the world that the earth is in fact part of the temple of God that God himself has built for his habitation, and we denigrate and desecrate it at our very great peril!

Of course, this only matters if one believes in God ... but for the moment we can lay that aside and assume that if you are still reading you assent to this idea, or at very least you are willing to suspend your disbelief.

So, pull up a chair, and let's take a walk through creation!
